M.S. Nutrition; ACSM-CPT
Linda Matteoli received her Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a concentration in Nutritional Sciences
from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She then worked in a neurochemistry laboratory specializing in metabolic
genetics at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. While working part time as a nutritionist for the government-run WIC
program in South Boston, she pursued a Master's of Science in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College in Boston.
As part of her Master's program, Linda extensively studied the exercise and eating behaviors of the dancers at the Boston
Ballet as well as the macro and micronutrient excesses and deficiencies of various popular "fad" diets and the behavioral
patterns of dieters and exercisers. While doing so, she received an additional 450 hours of counseling training and worked
as a crisis counselor for two years in the greater Boston area. Linda is a certified personal trainer through the American
College of Sports Medicine and a Member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
While growing up in Sarasota, Linda developed a love for the outdoors and being on the water. She participated in
beach volleyball tournaments on Siesta Key as well as playing indoor and club volleyball. While in college, Linda
began running stadiums and around campus as a way to combat stress and stay in shape. She has run in multiple races
in Florida and in Massachusetts and has currently set her sights on marathon training. She also recently caught the
triathlon bug with participating in her first one this past June. She believes that education, and a proper plan and
support to reach small attainable goals is the key to a healthy life. Taking that first small step is the most important
one leading to a life of health and fitness!!
