Trainer of the Month
B.S., YMCA, USAT Level 1 Certified Coach
I made fitness a part of my life when I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus at age 13. Before I was diagnosed, I was overweight.
Then, the medicines the doctors prescribed made me gain even more weight. I joined my high school cross-country and track
teams, and started going to the gym, and eating healthy. Being healthy and active has been a way of life for me for over
15 years. I wanted to help others lose weight and keep it off; also, I wanted to share my knowledge, experience, and understanding
with people who were looking for a lifestyle change. Therefore, I pursued my passion, and received a B.S. in Exercise Sport
Science from the University of Delaware. My fitness career started at age 19, I worked as an Exercise Specialist and Personal
Trainer for the local YMCA where I completed my internship for college. I helped develop the state’s first youth fitness
center, and I successfully helped numerous people achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
I have over 10 years experience
in the fitness industry and 15 years experience in competitive running. I have competed in numerous endurance events; everything
from 5k, triathlons, duathlons, and marathons. Since my passion for endurance sports has grown exponentially, I wanted to
be able to share my excitement, motivation, and experience with people looking to launch their involvement in multi-sport.
“You can do anything you want as long as you put your mind to it.”
Therefore, I became a Certified USAT Triathlon Coach
and USA Cycling Coach. Currently, I am a personal trainer, spin instructor, group exercise instructor, health coach, W.I.T.S
Education Instructor in Saint Petersburg. I teach classes at the YMCA, City Gym, Hillsborough Community College, and Treasure
Island Yacht Club. Also, I am a member of American College of Sports Medicine where I am working towards my HFI certification
and my Wellness Coaching License.
Furthermore, a quote that keeps me going is…"The physical pain you feel can't compare
to the emotional pain you feel, when you quit"-Author Unknown
